ABOUT ME

I am a very unusual  person.  I don't believe in the whole marriage thing.

I think big weddings, big vehicles(particularly the gas guzzling Hummers), and funerals are  the most obscene waste of money.  They are all just for show.  They say funerals make people feel better and gives them "closure".  The fact is though, the person is still gone, you still hurt and you're at least $10,000 poorer.
The Hummer thing really needs no explanation.  And weddings can be just as beautiful and special for under $5000 as they are with a $100,000 dollar budget.  It just takes more elbow grease which I always find is worth it.

I am a very frugal person, which is the new politically correct term for "cheapskate".  That is why I will post great tips and ideas on this blog. Or links to sites dedicated to the same ideals.  If I change one persons way of thinking about money then it will be worth it.  I could buy a family of 4 a weeks worth of clothes at Salvation Army for $50 and no one would ever know.  I take great pride in that.

Don't get me wrong though.  If there is something I REALLY REALLY want,  I will pay full price for it.  But only after spending a little time to see if I can get it cheaper somewhere else.

My goal is to retire comfortably and enjoy doing things and going places.  There is so much I want to see in this great country of ours.  However, at this time in my life, I find that going anywhere is more stressfull than working!  I love using my vacation time for projects and R & R.  That works for me.  I will travel to my hearts content after I retire.  Just as long as I can take my furbabies with me.
